Oregon Trail

We took a family roadtrip over Memorial Day weekend all the way to Northeast Oregon and the Oregon Trail National Visitor Center in Baker City.  It was a long ways in a short time, but a really great trip!
Auggie on a covered wagon at the visitor center.  It sits on a high hill with a spectacular view over the Baker valley.  That's the snowy Blue Mountains in the distance, through which the emigrants would have to travel next.

There also was a small mining display on the museum grounds.  Here's an old ore wagon.

It's a large and impressive museum, with costumed re-enactors and various hands-on activities.  Here August is making a hand-dipped candle.

Below the museum, the remains of the wagon trail are still visible 150+ years later.  There is a stretch several miles long that you can hike on.  (We only made it maybe a third of a mile.)

Photos

This is a pic I snapped of Luke sleeping on August's bed while he was fast asleep.  Luke spends most night times under our bed, but does go sleep with Auggie sometimes for a bit during the night.  Unfortunately, Auggie usually sleeps through it and is unaware Luke was there (he would really like him to always sleep with him) so I took this as evidence for him.

The following photos were all taken by the kids themselves in the playroom.  I found them in the camera later without knowing they had even been using it.

I believe August snapped this one of the two of them pretending to be asleep.  A "selfie"!
