Still snowbound

We're all getting a little nuts here in the apartment. The roads are still a big mess with little to no bus service off our part of Capital Hill. We've tried all kinds of activities at home - crafts, baking, science experiments - to keep ourselves busy, but at least once a day we end up jumping around to Christmas music. We're all packed for our trip to PA for the holidays and here's Augie getting ready to go with his books. We're not sure whether we'll actually get out of Seattle due to the snow and ice but we're going to give it our best shot tomorrow.
To break up the monotony today, we made bird hats. Rosie delighted that the feathers made her look like a pretty princess. Yesterday, we were delighted to have a visit from our friend Kathryn and her new baby Adam who are visiting from Boston. We all had a great time getting to meet Adam and Augie especially liked that he is "a boy like me!" Can't wait to see what he looks like at his next visit to Seattle.

Things I don't have photos of to post...

1. Rosie and Augie playing in the snow. They've been very tentative about this last snowfall. Augie had smash up going down the hill in the toboggan last week and has been reluctant to do much playing since. And as of today, the toboggan has been stolen so we won't be out in that anymore.
2. Rosie and Augie singing "Jingle Bells" and "Silver Bells" together, reading books together and playing games that only they understand.
3. Augie trying to recite his own version of the "the Night Before Christmas."
4. The two of them stacking step stools up to make into teetering towers for getting into things.
5. Rosie using her new kid scissors to cut Augie's hair. I should have known to be wary when it was so quiet in the other room....
6. Augie explaining that he's not going to try to use the toilet because he's not potty-trained yet.
7 Rosie talking about helphenants (elephants), bean greens and clothwafs (washcloths).

Snowbound

The twins and I (Becky) have been stuck in the house most of the week first because our car was being repaired and now because snow and ice are making the roads treacherous. Here's Augie getting a little silly with our bedroll. (We, Rob and Becky, sleep on the living room floor every night and roll up our mattress every morning. The twins love to play around our bedding and call it their cave.)

Here the kids decided they wanted to pose for some photos with the Christmas tree. They get a little carried away with saying "cheese" and close their eyes every time.

Here's their attempt at putting their arms around each others shoulders.

The kids pose with their gingerbread house creation. Hurray for Trader Joe's and their awesome $8 kit.
The big news around here is that I officially graduated with my MN from the University of Washington this week. Hopefully this will mean better and more frequent blog updates. It definately means a less nutty routine for our family. Here's a picture of me with Augie as he helps me put some color into the editing of the final draft of my scholarly project.

Christmas Time Activities

Recently we went up to Swanson's Nursery in Crown Hill where they have quite a Christmas display.

Here's the kids watching the big train set. Auggie in particular liked that. (In the background is the big cage where they have a couple of reindeer displayed.)

They also got to meet a Santa for the first time. They were excited, but afraid to go too near him.
