Recent Happenings

Halloween pumpkin carving.
The kids did the design work, but still needed a lot of help on the actual cutting. (They drew faces on the pumpkins first, which is the doodling you can see.)

Fort Nisqually

In Point Defiance Park there's a reconstruction of the 1850's frontier fort and trading post that originally lay several miles to the south of Tacoma. Despite 17 years of driving by it in the park, Rob had still never been there. Since we had a sunny Sunday afternoon and a discount coupon, we decided to finally check it out.

Playing a pioneer ring-toss game.

An indian dug-out canoe.

Some of the costumed reenactors put August and Rose to work carrying firewood. They loved it, going back for load after load. (Too bad we can't get this kind of enthusiasm for chores around our house.)
